Do you remember Zach Presutti? He came to preach one Sunday—he works with prisoners on Rikers and at Edgecombe prison, right here in our neighborhood. You might remember that he spoke with us after coffee hour to say that he really needs some Welcome Home Backpacks, which are backpacks filled with some essentials to give to folks released from prison and on their way to…who knows where. But as it is said, wherever you are going, you probably need a toothbrush, and T-shirt and some underwear won’t hurt either.
Our Social Ministry Committee and our Church Council have asked us to put together thirty of these backpacks—you’ll see what is needed in the announcements. So please, let’s help the folks Jesus asked to help—with some T-shirts, socks, a toothbrush, and some basic toiletry items. Bring them to church and let’s see how much we can help.
See you Sunday!
