If you’re reading this e-mail—and I suppose, even if you’re not—you’re invited to come with us on our Church Picnic to Governor’s Island on June 8th.
We will be staking out home base at Grill #2, and we’ll eat lunch around noon, and have pie around 3 pm. And, we also have a special little thing we’ll be doing around pie time—be sure to come and find out what it is! Governor’s Island is a wonderful place to explore. There’s whole section of hammocks, where you can take a nap. It’s got New York City’s longest slide, wonderful views of the city, and plenty of space to play ball games or just sit and enjoy the day. Please come!
Fellowship—church picnics, coffee hour, small groups, hospitality committee works—these are all so important to our life of faith. It’s where the mystical bonds of unity are manifest, and where we talk to one another and perhaps even console one another, confide in one another.
So, please be sure to come. Sign up, too, by emailing us or signing your name on the paper in the narthex.
Finally, please also send suggestions for our BBQ Book Club book of the year. I will sending out my annual poll, soon.
