Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Tridium – the Great Three Days of Easter. This is a remembrance of the fulfillment of God’s promise to save the world and renew God’s people, and a celebration of Christ’s victory over sin and death.
So, you know, nothing major.
The Tridium begins with foot-washing and the institution of the Lord’s Supper, both of which are signs of God’s love in humble service. On Friday we remember Christ’s sacrifice of himself for us on the cross, and at the Easter Vigil, we hear the story of God’s marvelous deeds from the dawn of time to the dawn of our new life in the resurrected Lord. And on Sunday, we continue to celebrate as new people come into the Christian family. The Tridium is a three-day continuous service, involving all our senses, and the whole of our minds and hearts.
Darkness and day are both alike to God, and God holds life and death in his hands. This festival is our entry into God’s power, made perfect in humility and God’s revelation made manifest in the presence of Christ. Join us!
Finally, don’t forget to bring a dish to share at the Easter Sunday potluck. I’ll be making pancakes. What will you bring?
