We are asking people who have experienced mercy in some form to share with us how they were shown, showed, witnessed, wanted, or in any way been touched by mercy. What is mercy? Where do you see it? Why do we need it? How do we show it and receive it?
Mercy can mean benevolence, forgiveness, compassion on the part of those in power, giving of alms, and, more broadly, can refer to humanitarian relief work. One can both give and receive mercy, sometimes in the same act. Mercy is similar to kindness, but goes beyond it.
The Creations Art Show was established in 2013 by Our Saviour’s Atonement Lutheran Church in Washington Heights as a venue to express spiritual ideas through artwork. People of all faiths, as well as those questioning faith, are welcome to participate in this inclusive event. We welcome all who have a story to tell about mercy.
To Submit Artwork for Consideration:
Please contact Mark Hill at firstname.lastname@example.org. Each submission must include an artist statement about how mercy relates to the art piece or performance. Submissions due Friday, September 12, 2014.

You work every day to serve and love your neighbors, making your community a better place. On Sunday, September 8th we did so together as one body, using our hands to do God's work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.
OSA's Sunday School, with the help of family and friends, has raised $600 to purchase farm animals, seeds, and fish through the ELCA's Good Gifts catalog!
Congratulations and thank you to all!
“Why do you think there are so many references in the Bible to food and actions associated with eating and drinking?” (Feeding the Flock by Russell Chandler.)
If you spend some time thinking about why food is mentioned in the Bible, you’ll probably find yourself coming up with several answers, and perhaps those various answers will then take your thoughts in many directions. That’s exactly what happened over dinner tables this autumn when small groups from OSA gathered together for the Food & Scripture studies. We found our conversations traveling down many paths to discover the meanings of food references in the Bible.
